Enochic Biography and the Manuscript History of 1 Enoch: The Codex Panopolitanus Book of the Watchers

This article suggests that the Codex Panopolitanus Book of Watchers attests a new arrangement work, one organized around Genesis-style biography Enoch. I argue two scribes in are pursuing radically different literary goals and produce narrative progressions. The first, Scribe 1, begins with an Enochic tour cosmos (corresponding to 1 En. 19–21), smoothly transitions Enoch's earthly life (1 1–11), then addresses his final period angelic companionship ascent heaven En 12–14). progression has been universally overlooked because initial classed as mistake transmission (duplicate material), being so deviant from expected version text.
